| SAY GOODBYE TO UNWANTED HAIR: |
 |
| In the past, the usual remedies for hair
removal were plucking, shaving, waxing, or chemical depilatories.
Some are painful, some are messy, and all are only temporary.
For long-term hair removal, electrolysis is popular and
effective but it can be painful and slow. Hair by hair,
an electric current passes through a needle to destroy
the hair root's ability to grow. It typically takes months
or even years of regular visits for the procedure to be
effective even for small areas, like the upper lip. |
 |
The Energist Ultra VPL™ is
the most advanced hair removal product available. It
allows for permanent hair reduction - permanent hair reduction
is defined as long-term stable reduction in the number
of hairs growing after a treatment regimen.
The Energist Ultra Variable Pulse Light delivers a sequence
of very rapid short pulses of light energy. Pulsed light
is an ideal and long-term solution to unwanted hair growth
and skin treatments. As with loser hair removal systems,
the melanin in the hair absorbs this light and is heated
to a temperature which can permanently inhibit the hair's
growth. |
| |
Steps 1 - 4 below illustrate this process:
|
| |
| The advantages of Energist Ultra variable
Pulsed light (VPL) |
| over lasers and Intense Pulse Light (IPL)
are : |
 |
|
The Energist Ultra Variable
Pulsed Light emits light across a range of wavelengths,
allowing for a natural cooling period between pulses
and this results in minimal patient discomfort. |
|
Each shot of light comprises of a
sequence of rapid pulses. These variable pulses
ensure that the absorption of light or energy in
the target area is controlled, whilst minimizing
heating of the surrounding skin, resulting in no
undesirable side effects. |
| |
|
|
The steady beam of heat emitted by
Lasers can feel uncomfortable, whereas pulsed light
carefully balances the number, length and frequency
of the individual pulses of light to allow for a
far gentler treatment. |
|
Treatment does not involve
ablation or physical penetration of the skin and
is infinitely more patient friendly with minimal
recovery time required. |
|
The Energist Ultra Variable Pulse Light carefully
balances the sequence and duration as well as the
total energy level of the light waves. This means
that energy is delivered differentially to the target
area its surrounding skin tissue, acheving outstanding
therapeutic results. |
|
Traditional laser systems are unable
to treat darker skin types, which have less contrast
between sking and hair. The Energist Ultra VPL
can treat all skin types from very white to black
(Type I to Type VI of Fitzpatrick Skin Type classification). |
|
| |
| Why does it take more than one treatment
before there is permanent reduction of hair? |
|
|
| At any given time, hair is in one of the
three stages of growth-Anagen, Catagen or Telogen. Laser
treatment of hair is most effective when hair is in the
active or Anagen growth phase when the lower part of the
hair stops growing but is still intact. The resting phase
is called Telogen, when the old hair falls out in preparation
for the growth of new hair. Since we cannot accurately
assess what phase of regrwoth the hair is more than one
treatment is necessary to treat all the hair. |
| |
| The use of VPL in the treatment of other
skin conditions : |
 |
| VPL can be used in the treatment of various
other skin conditions. These include benign pigmented
lesions including warts, scars and striae, benign vascular
lesions including port-wine-stains, hemangiomas, telangiectasias,
rosacea, melasma, angiomas, poikiloderma of Civatte, leg
& facial veins and venous malformations. |
| |
| Skin rejuvenation |
 |
| Energist Ultra Variable Pulsed Light
helps to increase the rate at which collagen is formed
in the skin, thereby decreasing the anti-ageing effect
of skin. It can also be used to treat the appearance of
blood vessels near the surface of the skin such as thread
veins and diffuse redness, which contribute to the aging
effect on skin. Skin cells, which have been exposed to
the sun, can product excess melanin, causing age spots,
freckles and pigment changes, By treating with pulsed
light the melanin production of some cells is disabled,
evening out the skin tone, and smoothing the appearance
of sun damage. |
